Hitachi launches new compact 8.0” WVGA TFT display module with LED backlight

Compact and rugged WVGA display is ideal for graphical user interfaces
6 October 2008. Hitachi Europe Ltd, Display Products Group (DPG) has announced the introduction of a new compact 8.0” wide aspect ratio TFT display module. The new TX20D19 supports a 15:9 wide aspect ratio, a display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA) and delivers excellent optical performance.
The new transmissive display continues Hitachi’s implementation of rugged, reliable and high brightness LED backlighting in medium size TFT display modules. This provides excellent image uniformity and delivers a brightness of 350cd/m² with a 200:1 contrast ratio.
“The wide aspect ratio format of the TX20D19 is becoming increasingly popular and enables flexible graphical user interfaces to be designed for many different application environments.” comments Mark Stephenson, Product Manager for Hitachi Display Products Group. “High colour saturation and excellent uniformity make the new TX20 display module ideal for applications such as in flight entertainment, media terminals, navigation systems, home automation and industrial user interfaces.”
The TX20D19 display module has compact dimensions of 189mm (w) x 120mm (h) x 7.5mm (d) and weighs 170g. Electrically compatible with existing Hitachi WVGA displays, the TX20D19 features a 6-bit RGB CMOS interface which enables up to 262K colours to be displayed. The display module can be safely operated at temperatures between -20°C and +70°C.
The TX20D19 is supplied through Hitachi Display Products Group distribution partners and is available across Europe immediately.
