SC 5000 Enabling Fast PIN Payment At 100 Restaurants Across Holland...

London, UK - July 04, 2006 - VeriFone Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: PAY) today announced that McDonald’s Netherlands is upgrading its entire electronic cash register network with VeriFone’s SC 5000 secure consumer-facing payment system, enabling fast PIN-based payment throughout McDonald’s restaurants in Holland. VeriFone International Partner CCV Holland B.V. has deployed the smart programmable devices across one hundred stores, enabling faster transaction times and increased security and convenience for restaurant customers and staff.

As part of the national upgrade programme, CCV Holland worked directly with MDIS, the cash register supplier, to provide complete implementation, installation and maintenance.

“Installing the CCVPos VeriFone PIN Pad solution, linked to our cash register system, ensures ultra-fast payment at the cash desk,” says Herman Bolt, IT Manager of McDonald’s Nederland. “Our policy for the coming years in the Netherlands focuses on listening even more to our customers. In specific terms, this means renewing and improving restaurant concepts, experience, quality, service, assortment, and so on. PIN payment is a good example of this. By enabling the customer to pay using PIN, we can provide him or her with an even faster service.”

“The VeriFone SC 5000 can be connected to the existing cash register network, making implementing the programme simple and effective, and avoiding unnecessary delays,” says Ton van der Bruggen, Managing Director of CCV Holland B.V. “The convenience of PIN payment is so much a part of ordinary life that customers are surprised if it is not offered as a payment method. It also offers many advantages for both consumer and company.”

Nigel Bidmead, Managing Director for VeriFone EMEA added, “Major Quick Service Restaurant chains are seeking ways to enhance the services that they offer to their customers. Introducing PIN-based products to traditional cash-based environments increases check-out speeds, provides convenience for their customers, and can offer profit-building services. VeriFone’s SC 5000 provides tangible benefits for our customers, and provides the fastest, easiest way to upgrade existing electronic cash registers to support chip cards, PIN-based payment and EMV.”
